The Company was founded in 1991 by mining legend Ned Goodman. Known for his astute and transformative investments, Mr. Goodman was an Order of Canada recipient, a member of the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame, PDAC Developer of the Year in 1989, and Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year for Ontario in 2004. In 2012, the Fraser Institute awarded him the T. Patrick Boyle Founder’s Award, and he was named to the IIAC Investment Industry Hall of Fame in 2017.

Ned Goodman also founded the prestigious Goodman School of Mines (GSM) at Laurentian University.

Known as “Canada’s Mining University,” GSM offers the most comprehensive mining education available in Canada, with an extensive array of undergraduate and graduate-level programs, training and research geared to the full mining cycle.

Mr. Goodman’s son, Jonathan, a professional engineer and Chartered Financial Analyst® with an MBA, assumed leadership of Dundee in 2018. Jonathan understood that mining was “a serious and complex business,” one that put most investors at a great disadvantage when trying to identify opportunities. He had also witnessed a steady and concerning decline in funding for exploration and development.

Believing there was a better way to invest in and fund the mining industry, Jonathan began enhancing Dundee’s approach. He maintained that a hand-picked team of geologists, engineers and finance experts, working closely together, could access and analyze technical information unavailable to the average investor and help fund companies’ searches for new resources.
